November 2 Nerja MB Boutique Hotel

We left Tarifa around 10 to pouring rain and wind!  It is November after all.  We drove the coast highway through Malagá to Nerja - a small fishing village with a wonderful paseo that we first discovered get this : 35 years ago .  No longer that small fishing village and in fact, the entire coast is developed in the same way that the PNW has developed.  All the cranes here remind us of Seattle.
Our hotel is a dream.  And all for 70 Euros.  Hot tubs on the rooftop deck, breakfast and tapas included, jacuzzi in the room and ways to change even the color of the lights.
Pretty nice since we have diminishing needs to go out and explore!
Note:  wind power and solar is everywhere.

Also a giant tv with stations galore and many in English too!

We like it here. Alot.  Sometimes re-visiting a place cannot create the same feeling .  Can’t re-create being 35 but something about being here feels good.  It has plenty of tourists and the fishing boats have been replaced by a hotel bit it’s not pretentious and not development style retirement which we don’t much care for. The setting is more than gorgeous with the paseo leading to the Balcon de Europa overlooking the sea.

And we found a fishing boat.

October 19 Day 2 in Salamanca Hotel Trypp After a record breaking 11 hours of sound sleep another cameo breakfast appearance called. Love the tomato purée to put on bread among the many other delights . Off to Salamanca we went on our bikes! Our hotel is a bit out of town, across the river. We were intent upon finding a certain bike store to check out and tune up our bikes but found José at Bicycletas Palacio. Perfect! Little hole in the wall repair place and for 24 Euros each he had our bikes adjusted and ready to rock and ride. In the meantime, we strolled the town feeling in sync with the world. Beautiful college town, university founded in 1100,a UNESCO world heritage site and just the right size to experience. Recommended by José we found the Jockey Club a locally patronized restaurant and tried the typical dish of Salamanca, chanfaina. I shall share the ingredients and say no more.
